Week 1: Starting From Zero

16 pieces — 14 posts plus the weekly newsletter: 7 Slot A anchors · 7 Slot B experiments, 2 a day, the flagship folded into Thursday's anchor. Every anchor is a mechanic with a measured send or save rate from the teardown pass; every experiment is a trial with its judging metric printed on it — sends plays and reach plays labelled as what they are. Posting windows: Slot A 8:00 AM ET · Slot B 6:30 PM ET — defaults to be tested, not research findings (timing was never measured). Film day is Sunday — batch all 14.

How to read a script
Title (the big bold heading) — the post's name. It goes in the title field when you upload and labels the script here. Never spoken, never on screen.
Hooks — three variants (H1–H3), filmed in order before the body, every post. H1 leads; H2 and H3 are different doors into the same post, not rewordings. On the two no-speech formats the three are opening on-screen text instead.
The Script — only the words you say out loud, numbered in order. Nothing else lives in this section: no directions, no marks.
Shot list — on the posts that are made, not spoken (the silent loop, the sound demo), the directions sit in their own block under production — never inside the script.
Captions — dynamic word-by-word captions on everything you say, made in the editor — always on, every video.
Overlays — the 2–4 big moments in each script (listed under Overlays) — the only text you build by hand.
Cover / thumbnail text — the few big words on the first frame — what a scrolling thumb reads. It lives in the upload checklist on each post.
Edit spec — the flip-open sheet at the bottom of each post, written for the editor: the effects the source post used (labelled by how they were observed), the marks by line, the beat map, every animation and sound called by name, the music arc, the shot list with sources, and the cover. The surface stays clean until you tap it.

Day 0 — Prime the accounts

Before the profile card, before Post 1. Each item is marked honestly: only the settings item traces to teardown evidence from the Outlier 100 pass. The rest is hygiene — standard account care, done once, not a research finding and not sold as one.
· Create and verify the accounts on the phone you'll actually post from. Two-factor authentication on, everywhere. Same handle on Instagram, TikTok and YouTube. Professional / creator account type set on each, category set to creator education. Hygiene
· Profile complete before any post exists: face photo, keyworded name field, the bio from the card below, hub link live. Nobody's first impression of this account is a half-built page. Hygiene
· Spend 2–3 days using each app like a person in this niche before the first upload: follow the study models and the Outlier 100 accounts, watch in-lane videos to the end, save and share the good ones, leave a few genuine comments. No mass-follow bursts, no engagement pods, nothing bought. Hygiene
· Settings pass: highest-quality uploads on, captions on, and confirm Trial Reels is available on the account — the week's whole production system (3 hooks, 3 Trial cuts, winner to the grid) depends on it. Evidence-backed — settings salience is teardown finding #17 (the settings-audit post); the rest of Day 0 is hygiene
· Bank the launch before Day 1: the pin trio ready (intro / framework / series Episode 1) and the full first week filmed or scripted. Day 1 starts on schedule, not on inspiration. Hygiene

The series — Starting From Zero

Cadence: Slot A anchors carry the series: Episode 1 opens the week (Day 1) and the prediction post closes it (Day 7); every anchor is filmed inside the series frame, titled by the confession law below.
Weeks 1–4 document a real account growing from zero on a written system: Week 1 installs the system and the prediction discipline, Week 2 reads the first verdicts, unlocks the full receipts post (his own numbers, Chung-style) and doubles down on what sent, Week 3 stress-tests the winners against new topics, Week 4 publishes the full scoreboard — predictions versus reality — and resets the mix from his own data.
· title each installment with the fear the viewer is currently living, in past tense — the confession frame (validated at ~35x / ~19x in-window by the source series)
· a breakout gets its sequel within 48 hours — off-schedule, no debate (the surge rule)
· a winner gets re-issued verbatim within days — same asset, same caption, a fresh draw on non-followers
· never kill the series in single digits
· every installment teaches one mechanic, not just a diary number

The operating rule — re-issue the winner

· When a post beats your running median clearly, re-post the identical asset and caption within days. Each re-issue is a fresh draw on the same proven hook, aimed at non-followers who never saw the first run. (Replicated across 6 creators and 2 platforms in the teardown pass — the single most repeated finding in the Outlier 100.)
· A popping post gets its sequel within 48 hours, as an off-schedule extra — the locked surge rule. The observed windows are tighter than the old 7-day doctrine: Pt. 2 in 2 days, verbatim repost in 4, same-day duplicate pairs.
· Hook variants of a winner run as IG Trial Reels — non-followers only, the grid untouched. Volume lives there; discipline lives on the main feed.
· Production, every script: film 3 hooks, cut 3 versions of the same body, run all 3 as Trial Reels for 24 hours, publish the winner to the grid.
· Honest expectation: re-issues decay. Expect a repeat to land at roughly 5–50% of the original's reach, occasionally above it. It's a harvest window of days, not a permanent slot.
· Posting windows — DEFAULTS TO BE TESTED, not research findings: Slot A at 8:00 AM US Eastern, Slot B at 6:30 PM US Eastern. Upload timing was never measured in the sweeps. Slot B's window alternates week over week — 6:30 PM ET this week, 12:30 PM ET next — as a running timing experiment, read by the scoreboard like any other variable.

Standing finishes — every post, every week

Noted once here, not repeated per post. Every edit spec below assumes every line of this list.
· Grain — one animated 65mm grain layer (fine, tight; luma sigma ≈5.5 on a flat field; moving every frame) over the whole master, applied last, after grading and sharpening. Footage and designed titles/animations sit UNDER the grain so they feel shot, not pasted. Reading text — captions, labels, small text — is composited ABOVE the grain and stays crisp.
· Loudness — two-pass loudnorm on every master: −14 LUFS, −1 dB true peak. Single-pass is never used; it squashes dynamics.
· Sound pairings — no graphic ships silent. Every named animation carries its library pairing, timed to the exact landing frame, ducked 12–18 dB under the voice. Music beds start at −23 dB under the voice and duck from there.
· Captions — dynamic word-by-word (Caption Pop) is the base layer on everything spoken, built against the finished master, so captions always land above the grain.
· Safe zones — no text in the bottom 20% of the frame; faces, captions and graphics stay inside the cross-platform intersection (overlays at ~/workspace/tools/video-edit/safezones/), checked on sampled frames at the design stage, before any render.

I Grew Everyone Else's Account but My Own

From-Zero Growth Blueprints
ANCHOR Confession Opener — Starting From Zero Ep. 1 · Prediction — sends/reach 0.5–1.5% (proxy-labelled)
Brief mechanic #10 (confession title + one principle): the source series ran ~35x and ~19x its in-window median on this exact frame; no rate data observable on IG, so the band is set on the identity trigger — person-to-person sends — and labelled proxy.
HOOKS — film all three, in order
H1 — first 3 seconds: I spent a year growing everyone else's account. Mine sat at exactly zero.
H2 — variant: I build growth systems for other people for a living. My own account had zero videos on it.
H3 — variant: This account starts at zero, and every post gets its prediction published before it runs.
FILMING NOTES — this post
• Have the follower-count screen (zero) ready to hold up or cut to — it is frame 1, before you speak.
• Confession register: steady, plain, direct to lens. No pitch energy, no smile-through-it.
Hook formula: confession-title
THE SCRIPT — word for word, in order
1

Here's the part nobody posts: my own account had no videos on it. Not one.

2

It wasn't a skill problem. I had no system, no series, no reason for a stranger to stay.

3

So this account is the experiment. One series, one constraint: I only post what the numbers picked. Research first, ego last.

4

And every number gets published — the hits and the embarrassing ones, next to the prediction written before posting. Starting From Zero, episode one.

OVERLAYS — big moments only
0:00 · lands with the hook · hold ~3 sec DAY 1 · ZERO FOLLOWERS
as you say the matching line · hold 2–4 sec ONE SERIES. ONE CONSTRAINT.
as you say the matching line · hold 2–4 sec EVERY NUMBER, PUBLISHED
Captions carry every word you say — these are the only lines you also build as designed overlays. One at a time, up the second its line is spoken, down when the next point lands.
CTA — word for word
Comment ZERO if you're starting yours this month. Follow — the receipts close this series on Day 7.
CAPTION
Starting From Zero, episode 1. A year of growing everyone else's account; mine sat at zero. The fix isn't more ideas — it's one series, one constraint, every number published next to the prediction written before posting. Comment ZERO if you're starting yours this month.

Stop Overthinking the First Line (The 5-Second Version)

Reach Lab
EXPERIMENT Five-Second Recipe Loop · Prediction — sends/reach 0.05–0.3% — REACH PLAY, judged on reach multiple vs the account's running median, not on sends
Brief mechanic #14: the source loop ran 327–565x+ against sweep medians across five iterations — and a 0.07% share rate at 5.6M views. Reach-proven, sends-unproven; it is trialled and printed as a reach engine, never as a sends play.
OPENING TEXT — three variants (nothing spoken)
H1: Stop overthinking your first line.
H2: Your next post is already sitting in your camera roll.
H3: Five seconds. Four steps. Post it today.
This format has no spoken hook — the muted loop says nothing. H1–H3 are the three variants of the OPENING ON-SCREEN TEXT (overlay line 1); film nothing for them. Whichever text opens, the same four recipe lines follow.
FILMING NOTES — this post
• Nothing to perform: pick the camera-roll clip (desk, notebook of draft hooks, phone in hand) and keep its original audio file — the edit mutes it.
• Export or trim the loop so the last frame cuts cleanly back to the first; the seam is the format.
Hook formula: three-word-opener

SHOT LIST — how this post is made
SHOT LIST — this post is a 5-second loop, not a talking video. Film it exactly like this:

SHOT 1 (0:00–0:05, loops): your own camera roll — the desk, the notebook of draft hooks, the phone in your hand. One pass, no talking, nothing staged.

Original audio muted. A trending sound runs underneath, low. You say nothing; the text does the whole job.

The four recipe lines appear on screen, one per beat (see Overlays). The caption below carries the same four steps in full sentences — the video is the poster, the caption is the post.

Post it as-is. In about five days, re-issue the identical loop — same sound, same text. This format is built to be re-posted, and its re-issue cadence is the point of the trial.
CTA — word for word
Caption close (not spoken): 'Four steps, five seconds. Save this loop for the day you stall — then post yours before you fix it.'
CAPTION
THE 5-SECOND FIRST-LINE RECIPE: 1 · Name the exact person — not “creators,” the one person in the situation they're in right now (“posting every day, stuck under 200 views”). If they can't tell it's them in one second, it's nobody. 2 · Promise one thing — one video, one payoff. A first line that promises two things lands neither; pick the one they'd send to a friend. 3 · Cut the warm-up — the first sentence is the claim, not the intro. Every word before the point (“hey guys, so today I wanted to talk about…”) is a reason to swipe. 4 · Post it today — a posted first line teaches you more in an hour than a perfected one teaches in a week. The fix is what the numbers tell you, and the numbers only come from posting. Four steps, five seconds. Save this loop for the day you stall — then post yours before you fix it.
PLATFORM HOOK NOTES

I Planned Your Posting Week So You Don't Have To

From-Zero Growth Blueprints
ANCHOR Done-For-You Calendar · Prediction — sends/reach 1.0–1.5% sends · 8–11% saves
Brief mechanic #2: the source post ran 907,200 views at a 1.28% share rate and a 10.6% save rate — the highest save rate in the teardown pass — and the titled series repeated it across three seasons. Band brackets the original with a from-zero discount on saves. (Longer script than standard: a seven-day walk is the mechanic.)
HOOKS — film all three, in order
H1 — first 3 seconds: I planned your content week so you don't have to — seven days, one job each, including a day off.
H2 — variant: You don't have a posting problem. You have a 9 p.m. panic problem.
H3 — variant: Monday confession, Thursday the long one, Saturday off. Your whole week, decided in one video.
FILMING NOTES — this post
• Paper calendar on the desk, all seven days visible — walk the days with your hand as you name them.
• Reference pace: slow enough to screenshot. The plan is the product; don't rush the days.
Hook formula: service-promise
THE SCRIPT — word for word, in order
1

Without a plan you don't skip posting. You skip deciding — then post whatever panic hands you at 9 p.m.

2

Monday, the confession: post the thing you're embarrassed is true. It sorts your people from the scroll in one line.

3

Tuesday, the gift: hand someone a finished plan, like this one. Useful is what gets forwarded.

4

Wednesday, one pairing: a named tool and its exact job, shown. Not a list of ten — one tool, one job.

5

Thursday, go long once — the long one. Everything else this week points at it.

6

Friday, the ladder: sort your viewer by their own number — one fix under fifty views, a different one under three hundred.

7

Saturday, rest. A planned zero is part of the system. A guilty skip is the panic in charge.

8

Sunday, the receipts: publish your predictions next to your misses. The scoreboard is content too.

Day 2 · Post 2 · D2P2Slot B — Experiment

The Setting That Tests Your Hook on Strangers First

Algorithm & Reach
EXPERIMENT New-Feature Timed-Hack Demo · Prediction — sends/reach 0.05–0.3% — REACH PLAY, judged on reach and follows, not on sends
Brief mechanic #13: the source demo hit ~459x (1M views, freshest big multiple in the pass) on a 0.06% share rate and 0.20% save rate — the platform distributed it; viewers didn't forward it. Highest reach ceiling in the set, labelled a reach play so it is never misread as a sends play.
HOOKS — film all three, in order
H1 — first 3 seconds: Two-second setting: it tests your next hook on strangers before your followers ever see it.
H2 — variant: This setting lets strangers judge your hook before your followers ever see it.
H3 — variant: Film three first lines. Post all three. Let strangers pick the winner.
FILMING NOTES — this post
• Screen-record the Trial toggle being switched on in your own account (before or right after the take) — face-cam in the corner; that recording is the L1 B-roll.
• After filming, this post's own three hooks run as real Trials for a day — the demo has to be true.
Hook formula: timed-hack
THE SCRIPT — word for word, in order
1

Open a new Reel and tap Trial. It goes out to non-followers only — your followers never see it, and it never touches your grid.

2

Do not scroll, cause this is the part everyone's missing: it is not a preview. It is a judge with no loyalty to you.

3

So film three first lines for the same video and run all three as Trials for a day. Same video, three openings.

4

The winner goes to your grid carrying proof. The losers die in private — which is where bad hooks belonged all along.

OVERLAYS — big moments only
0:00 · lands with the hook · hold ~3 sec TWO SECONDS: TRIALS ON
as you say the matching line · hold 2–4 sec NOT A PREVIEW — A JUDGE

Captions carry every word you say — these are the only lines you also build as designed overlays. One at a time, up the second its line is spoken, down when the next point lands.
CTA — word for word
Comment TESTED when yours is switched on. Follow — tomorrow's post is the pairing that makes a hook worth testing.
CAPTION
The Trial Reels setting: non-followers only, grid untouched. Run three first lines for the same video, let strangers judge for 24 hours, post the winner. Comment TESTED when yours is on. Judged this week on reach, not sends — this one is a reach engine.
PLATFORM HOOK NOTES
• tiktok: Screen-record the Trial toggle being switched on, face-cam in the corner; the demo is the proof
• reels: This post itself ships as a normal Reel; its 3 hook variants run as the Trials it describes

Effects used — in the source post

  • Follow-along phone demo inside the first 10 seconds — the taps narrated as they're done ('Okay, watch this') OBSERVED

Use This / For This: My Whole System in Five Pairings

Tools & Mechanics
ANCHOR Named-Asset Pairing · Prediction — sends/reach 1.0–2.0% (proxy-labelled)
Brief mechanic #6: the source reel ran 2.2M views (~175x) with the save/send-utility signature — 3.0% likes/views, only 113 comments. The control evidence is the point: the identical format with generic assets sat at 13–1,644 views on the same account. Named, recognisable assets are the mechanic. IG sends unobservable — band is proxy.
HOOKS — film all three, in order
H1 — first 3 seconds: Use this — for this. Five tools from my system, five exact jobs, nothing else on the list.
H2 — variant: Not ten apps you'll never open — five tools, each with exactly one job.
H3 — variant: My entire posting system fits in five pairings. Steal the list.
FILMING NOTES — this post
• Stay still in the two-panel frame — the name cards carry the novelty, not your movement. Hands out of the panels.
• Five pairings, five clean beats; a short breath at each swap lets the whoosh land.
Hook formula: use-this-for-this
THE SCRIPT — word for word, in order
1

Use the Fork Opener — for the first line: give their current way a real win, then name the upgrade. One sentence a viewer can repeat to a friend.

2

Use the Send Test — for the script: name the exact person who would forward it, or the draft dies. No name, no film day.

3

Use the Spec Sheet — for the caption: exact settings, exact numbers, copy-paste ready. Reference cards get saved; opinions get scrolled.

4

Use the 48-Hour Sequel — for a winner: when a post pops, the follow-up ships in two days, not two weeks.

5

Use Trial Reels — for the variants: three hooks enter, strangers judge, one reaches the grid.

Before You Quote That Brand, Ask These Seven Questions

Money & Scale
EXPERIMENT Pre-Quote Question List · Prediction — sends/reach 1.0–1.5% sends · 5–7% saves
Brief mechanic #7: the source post ran 38,900 views (~21x) at a 1.27% share rate and 6.59% save rate — the freshest post in the teardown pass — and notably carried no pitch while the same creator's funnel posts sat at her median. Trialled as this week's sends-class experiment; graduates to anchor if it sends.
HOOKS — film all three, in order
H1 — first 3 seconds: Quote a brand before asking these seven questions and you've already lost money — permanently.
H2 — variant: The most expensive sentence in brand deals: 'Sure, that price works for me.'
H3 — variant: Thirty days of rights and forever are different products. Ask before you name a price.
FILMING NOTES — this post
• One question per beat, filmed straight through in one take — the hard cuts and the on-screen count do the pacing.
• Keep any actual number out of your voice until the CTA: answers first, then the quote.
Hook formula: numbered-questions
THE SCRIPT — word for word, in order
1

One: how many posts, and where else do they run? Usage beyond your page is a second invoice.

2

Two: how long do they keep the rights? Thirty days and forever are different products at different prices.

3

Three: do they want exclusivity? Blocking their competitors costs you other deals — that goes in the quote.

4

Four: how many revision rounds? 'A couple of tweaks' has ended friendships and budgets.

5

Five: when do they pay — on delivery, in 30 days, in 60? Slow payment is a quiet pay cut.

6

Six and seven: who approves it, and what kills the deal? Get both answers in writing, before the number.

Your Content Is Stuck at Level Two of a 1956 Ladder

Named Framework
ANCHOR Framework Translation Table — the week's flagship · Prediction — sends/reach 1.5–2.0% sends · 5–7% saves
Brief mechanic #3: the source post ran 213,000 views at a 1.73% share rate and 7.12% save rate — the highest combined sends+saves profile among the transcript-verified posts in the pass — with a second escape the same week. Class ceiling reference: the disclosed 2.6% share rate on a true breakout. (Flagship length: 2–3 minutes spoken; it folds into this anchor slot.)
HOOKS — film all three, in order
H1 — first 3 seconds: Your posts are stuck at level two of a six-level ladder written in 1956 — here's the whole ladder, translated for creators.
H2 — variant: Audit your last five posts against a ladder from 1956. Most creators find all five parked on rung two.
H3 — variant: Your posts explain everything and change nothing. A seventy-year-old ladder shows why.
FILMING NOTES — this post
• The long one (~2 minutes at pace): one take, rung by rung. The table builds beside you — glance at it only when a rung lands.
• No graphic on the hook by design: your face carries the first line, the ladder appears at the naming moment in L1.
Hook formula: framework-translation
THE SCRIPT — word for word, in order
1

The ladder is Bloom's taxonomy. Teachers have used it for seventy years to move a student from merely hearing a fact to actually using it — and your viewers climb the same six rungs.

2

Level one, Remember: can they repeat your line tomorrow, word for word? If nothing in the post is quotable, it dies at level one — nobody watches it twice.

3

Level two, Understand: can they say why it works in one breath? This is where most teaching posts stop — explanation with no next step attached.

4

Level three, Apply: hand them one move they can run today, with the number on it. A step they can do beats a truth they can only nod at.

5

Level four, Analyze: put two versions side by side and make them spot the difference. Comparison is where understanding turns into judgment.

6

Level five, Evaluate: give them the criteria — the checklist you'd judge by — and let them grade their own last post. Now they own the standard, not just your opinion of it.

7

Level six, Create: the top rung isn't your content at all. It's theirs — the template, the table, the system they can now run without you in the room. A post that reaches level six gets sent, because sending it is how a viewer hands your system to the next person.

8

So the whole table: repeat it, explain it, run it, compare it, judge it, build with it. Audit your last five posts against the ladder. Most creators find four parked at level two — and nothing above it. The climb is the content strategy; everything below level three is just publishing.

CAPTION
Bloom's taxonomy (1956), translated for creators: Remember — one quotable line. Understand — the why in one breath. Apply — one move, today, with a number. This is the week's long one — 2–3 minutes by design.

Edit spec — the editor’s sheet

Layout preset: House Short — The week's flagship, folded into the anchor slot. Long-form flow: one designed system — the building table — carries the whole piece; designed moments are budgeted to the table plus two title cards.

Delivery: measured, rung by rung — the flagship; let the table do the persuading

AI bridges: None — one speaker, one table, 2–3 minutes; a bridge would spend the flagship's credibility, not add to it.

Effects used — in the source post

  • The framework is dated but unnamed in the hook, then named at ~12 seconds — the naming is the first payoff OBSERVED
Full subtitles pulled off the post (the source names Maslow at ~0:12; Jude names Bloom).
  • The body is a level-by-level translation table — every rung becomes one concrete action in the niche OBSERVED
Full subtitles; engagement fingerprint 7.12% saves / 1.73% shares.
  • The caption names the framework the spoken hook withholds — hook and caption split the curiosity work OBSERVED
    Caption pulled in full.
  • Whether the source showed a graphic table on screen NOT OBSERVABLE

Genius Move by Liquid Death

Contrarian Takes
EXPERIMENT Verdict-First Brand Teardown · Prediction — sends/reach No sends band claimed — judged on reach multiple vs the account's own median
Brief mechanic #15: the source channel runs this exact title machine at 634K, 4.7M and 10M views against a ~10K median — the strongest channel-level repeat evidence in the Shorts batch — but no engagement was observable for any post in the batch, so no sends band is printed. Title machine verified; in-video structure is the trial.
HOOKS — film all three, in order
H1 — first 3 seconds: Genius move by Liquid Death — and the genius isn't the water.
H2 — variant: Liquid Death didn't change the water. It changed the costume.
H3 — variant: Why does this water belong at a concert, and yours belongs at a desk?
FILMING NOTES — this post
• Any tallboy can in hand from frame one — the verdict lands before the brand is named.
• Dry delivery. Let the can and the verdict do the work; don't sell it.
Hook formula: verdict-first
THE SCRIPT — word for word, in order
1

It's a tall can. Sixteen ounces, heavy in the hand, covered in art like an energy drink that wants to fight you.

2

Here's the move: water had a context problem. Bottles belong at desks and gyms and the bottom of tote bags.

3

That can belongs at a concert. In a photo. In a hand at a party, next to the beers, asking no permission.

4

Nobody's embarrassed to hold it. Nobody has to explain it. The product never changed — the costume did.

5

Smallest object in the whole company, biggest job in the whole brand: one can carries everything, and the proof is in your hand.

9 Routes to Your First Brand Deal, Sorted by Your Level

Money & Scale
ANCHOR Level-Sorted Directory · Prediction — sends/reach 1.0–1.3% sends · 6–10% saves
Brief mechanic #5: the source directory ran 306,100 views observed at a 1.27% share rate and 9.5% save rate, with a weaker two-route repeat at 0.79% / 5.6% — the band spans both. Evidence caveats carried from the teardown: the source post is stale (Dec 2025) and the sweep's larger figure could not be reproduced; ranked below the Lana/Julia pair for that reason.
HOOKS — film all three, in order
H1 — first 3 seconds: Your first brand deal — without cold pitching, without a portfolio. Nine routes, sorted by where you are right now.
H2 — variant: Still waiting to feel ready for brand deals? Your level already has three routes in.
H3 — variant: Brands are already watching your stories. Route one costs you nothing.
FILMING NOTES — this post
• Three levels, one beat each — hold each tier long enough to be read; this is a directory, not a pitch.
• End holding the completed directory: that frame is the screenshot moment, give it a full beat.
Hook formula: result-minus-requirements
THE SCRIPT — word for word, in order
1

Beginner — no audience proof yet. One: the brands already watching you — check who views your stories before you pitch strangers. Two: the matching platforms, Aspire and Collabstr — briefs listed by follower count, beginners included. Three: ten genuine comments a day on brands you'd actually use; buyers notice names they keep seeing.

2

Intermediate — some posts, no deal yet. Four: a one-page rate card, so 'what do you charge?' never catches you empty. Five: one unpaid review of a product you already own — a portfolio that costs nothing. Six: answer every platform brief within a day. Speed is the beginner's only discount.

3

Advanced — deals done, rates rising. Seven: usage rights priced separately, always, in writing. Eight: a case-study post after every deal — published results are the next brief. Nine: pitch the sequel while the first post is still warm. Brands re-buy faster than they buy.

The Messy Cut Beat the Polished Cut

The System Shown Live
EXPERIMENT Two-Version A/B Ratio Post · Prediction — sends/reach No sends band — judged on comments-per-reach and profile visits
Brief mechanic #16: the source post's one-line ratio claim drew 19,264 comments on a caption that asked no question and offered no keyword — the argument itself was the comment trigger. Sends unobservable on IG; this trial is produced by the week's own Trial workflow (two cuts, real result), and judged on discussion, not sends.

This week I ran both versions as Trial Reels. The polished cut: color fixed, pauses trimmed, captions perfect. And the raw one: one take, desk light, filmed in four minutes.

2

Twenty-four hours in front of the same strangers. One variable only: how finished it looked.

3

The result: the raw cut pulled the reach — and the polished cut pulled the comments about production. Strangers voted for the version that looked like a person, not a production. [Speak your real Trial ratio here — the number from your own 24-hour run replaces this line.]

4

My read: polish reads as advertising until proven otherwise. Rough edges are proof of a human — and proof is what gets a stranger to stay.

CAPTION
Same video, two cuts, 24 hours as Trial Reels: the polished cut vs the one-take raw cut. Strangers picked the person over the production. This post is produced by the system, not written cold — the ratio in the video is the real result of the week's Trial run, whatever it was. Run your own pair: one polished, one raw, same words.

Don't Delete That Flopped Post

Algorithm & Reach
ANCHOR Diagnostic Ladder · Prediction — sends/reach 0.3–0.6% sends · 1.5–2.5% saves
Brief mechanic #4: the source post ran 344,800 views (~27.7x) at a 0.29% share rate and 1.61% save rate, and was itself a declared remake of the creator's own earlier video. A saves-and-follows mechanic more than a sends one — its value is authority and return visits, and it compounds from Week 2 when the rungs become Jude's own numbers.
HOOKS — film all three, in order
H1 — first 3 seconds: Don't delete that video. The number it died at tells you exactly what to fix.
H2 — variant: A flop is a diagnosis, not a verdict. The view count names the broken rung.
H3 — variant: Under fifty views is not a content problem. It's a distribution problem.
FILMING NOTES — this post
• Draw the ladder on paper and set it beside you before you roll; tick each rung as you name it.
• Firm, on the viewer's side — forbid the delete like you mean it.
Hook formula: diagnostic-ladder
THE SCRIPT — word for word, in order
1

Find the number first. Every flop dies at a different rung, each rung has a different fix — and deleting the post burns the diagnosis.

2

Under fifty views: it was never really distributed. The fix isn't the idea, it's the first frame and the first line. Remake the opening; keep the lesson.

3

Under three hundred, but people stayed: distribution worked, the promise didn't. Check the sends — if nobody forwarded it, the post never named a person to send it to.

4

Good views, dead retention: they came for the hook and left in the middle. Your second hook — the one owed at fifteen seconds — never showed up.

5

Nothing on the ladder explains it? Last rung: remake it differently. Ideas aren't judged on one attempt. They're judged over attempts.

CTA — word for word
Save the ladder before your next flop. From next week, these rungs run on my own posts' real numbers — follow for that.
CAPTION
The diagnostic ladder: under 50 views — remake the opening, keep the lesson. Under 300 with watch time — the promise didn't name a person to send it to. Good views, dead retention — the 15-second hook never landed. Unexplained — remake it differently; ideas are judged over attempts, not once. From Week 2, this ladder runs on my own numbers.

How to Layer Sound on a Talking-Head Clip

Tools & Mechanics
EXPERIMENT Silent Demonstration · Prediction — sends/reach No sends band claimed — judged on reach and completion proxies
Brief mechanic #18: the source Short ran 6.79M views (~243x) with a 12-word transcript, while the same titled lesson sat at 32–51K elsewhere on the channel — the escape is this execution, not the topic. No engagement was observable, so nothing is claimed beyond reach and completion.
COUNT-IN + OPENING TEXT — H1 is spoken; H2/H3 are text variants
H1: Three, two, one.
H2: Same clip. Four layers. No narration.
H3: Your clip isn't broken. It's missing three layers.
H1 is the spoken count-in ('Three, two, one.') and is identical in every variant — it is a cue, not a hook. H2/H3 are alternative OPENING ON-SCREEN TEXTS for the first frame: the variants differ in the opening card, not in anything spoken.
FILMING NOTES — this post
• Film ONE clean talking clip, neutral delivery, and stop — Shots 1–4 are editor-built mixes of that same clip, not four takes.
• The count-in ('Three, two, one.') is the only spoken line: say it to lens, hold a beat, done.
Hook formula: count-in-demo

SHOT LIST — how this post is made
SHOT LIST — this post is a silent demonstration. The count-in above is the only spoken line in the video; everything after it is the sound itself changing.

SHOT 1: the raw clip, no sound design — you talking, dead air between the lines. Hold four seconds. Let it feel broken.

SHOT 2: the same clip plus room tone and the breath before each line. The voice suddenly sits in a room instead of a void.

SHOT 3: the same clip plus a soft whoosh under every cut. The edits stop looking like jumps and start looking like choices.

SHOT 4: the same clip plus the music bed, low enough to argue with. Now it is a finished video.

SHOT 5: one second of Shot 1 again, then Shot 4 to the end. The difference is the entire lesson — no narration anywhere, because the result verifies itself inside the watch.
CTA — word for word
Caption close (not spoken): 'A count-in and four layers — that is the whole video. Save it for your next edit; the recipe is in the shots.'
CAPTION
Layering sound on a talking-head clip, demonstrated, not explained: raw → room tone → whoosh under the cuts → music bed, low. Twelve spoken words in the source format; the lesson is the audible difference between layers. Save it for your next edit.
PLATFORM HOOK NOTES

AI bridges: None — the same clip replays; every change is in the mix, not the picture.

  • The lesson lives in the audio track — layers added audibly; the result is self-verifying inside the watch, no trust in the creator required OBSERVED

  • A spoken summary, narration or before/after explanation NOT OBSERVABLE

The Numbers I Promised to Hit — Published Before the Results

From-Zero Growth Blueprints
ANCHOR Receipts — The Prediction Post (Chung, Week 1 form) · Prediction — sends/reach Anchor-typical reach; a breakout-class send rate (2.0–2.6%) only if a post actually breaks out
Brief mechanic #8: the source disclosure post itself performed at mid-tier (~4.5x its creator's likes median) — the mechanic's value is the benchmark and the accountability frame, not distribution. The disclosed table (2.6% shares / 4.5% saves on a 2.34M-view breakout) is printed in the post as the honest target. Full version — Jude's own dashboard as frame one — unlocks Week 2.
HOOKS — film all three, in order
H1 — first 3 seconds: Every post this week carries a number it has to beat — written down before a single result existed. Here are mine.
H2 — variant: In seven days I publish my misses next to my predictions. Nothing edited.
H3 — variant: A real breakout shares at 2.6 percent. My numbers get read against that, in public.
FILMING NOTES — this post
• Read the numbers slowly and exactly as printed — the bands you read are the bands that were published with each post.
• No ad-libbed figures anywhere in this one; if you misspeak a number, retake the line in the same take.
Hook formula: receipts-opener
THE SCRIPT — word for word, in order
1

The main posts — the calendar, the ladder, the directory — were promised at one to two sends per hundred views. Not views. Sends: a stranger forwarding the post with their own name on it.

2

The experiments run cheaper and say so: the loop and the feature demo get judged on reach alone, because the evidence says they travel without being forwarded.

3

And the honest ceiling, so nobody moves the goalposts later: one creator published his real dashboard — 2.34 million views, 2.6 percent shared, 4.5 percent saved. That is what a genuine breakout earns. Anything vaguer is marketing.

4

In seven days my numbers land next to the ones I wrote down — hits and misses together, nothing edited. That's the deal this account runs on.

Before You Blame Your Content, Check These 10 Settings

Algorithm & Reach
EXPERIMENT Settings-Audit Checklist — the week's funnel slot · Prediction — sends/reach No sends band — judged on saves + GUIDE keyword comments
Brief mechanic #17: the source post ran ~1,031x its creator's likes median (206K likes) with 37,868 comments ≈ 18% of likes — keyword-automation volume, not conversation. It converts; it doesn't travel. One per week, designated funnel slot only, judged on saves and keyword comments.
HOOKS — film all three, in order
H1 — first 3 seconds: Your views might not be a content problem. They might be a settings problem — and settings take four minutes.
H2 — variant: One screen decides whether strangers are even allowed to find you. Most creators never check it.
H3 — variant: Half your audience watches muted — and can't forward what they can't read.
FILMING NOTES — this post
• Screen-record the three toggles on your own account (highest quality, auto-captions, Account Status) — those recordings are the B-roll for L2–L4.
• Posting note, not filming: pin the GUIDE keyword comment first when this goes up.
Hook formula: misdiagnosis-reframe
THE SCRIPT — word for word, in order
1

The full list is in the caption — all ten, written out, nothing held back. Check them against your own account.

2

Three matter most. Upload at highest quality, or the platform compresses your hook into soup before a human ever judges it.

3

Captions on by default. Half your audience watches muted, and a muted viewer cannot send what they cannot read.

4

And the one nobody checks: whether your account is even eligible to be recommended to non-followers. One screen decides if strangers are allowed to find you at all.

OVERLAYS — big moments only

as you say the matching line · hold 2–4 sec CAPTIONS — ON (HALF WATCH MUTED)

Captions carry every word you say — these are the only lines you also build as designed overlays. One at a time, up the second its line is spoken, down when the next point lands.
CTA — word for word
The worked version — every toggle, screen by screen — goes to anyone who comments GUIDE. Save this first; the checklist is in the caption.
CAPTION
THE 10 SETTINGS: 1 · Upload at highest quality — on. 2 · Auto-captions — on. 3 · Account Status — all green, no recommendation flags. 4 · Suggested accounts — profile opted in. 5 · Data saver — off while uploading. 6 · Original audio — post your own sound, not a re-upload. 7 · Trial Reels — available and tested. 8 · Comment notifications — on; the first hour is a conversation. 9 · Crossposting — set deliberately, not by default. 10 · Two-factor — on; a lost week is a dead week. The worked version, screen by screen: comment GUIDE. (This is the week's one designated funnel slot — it converts; the sends plays above are the ones built to travel.)

Delivery: clinical and quick — a checkup, not a lecture

AI bridges: None — screen recordings cut into one take; no bookend poses exist to bridge.

Effects used — in the source post

  • The caption carries the entire 10-item checklist in text — the full payload is readable without watching OBSERVED
Caption pulled in full (the on-file '3 settings' title could not be reconciled — the caption lists 10).

Day 7 · Post 3 · D7P3Newsletter

SUBJECT
Week 1 of Starting From Zero: 14 posts, 2 a day, every number promised in advance
BODY
Week 1 of Starting From Zero is on the board: fourteen posts, two a day, from an account that started last Monday at exactly zero followers. One anchor and one experiment a day — the anchor never drops, the experiment is allowed to fail in public. If you posted alongside me, you did more this week than most people who say they want to grow.

One: the week was rebuilt on counted evidence, not vibes. Over the break I tore down the top posts from a hundred verified outliers — small creators whose posts escaped their own averages — and the anchors in this week are the mechanics that survived it: a done-for-you calendar, a level-sorted directory, a diagnostic ladder, a framework translated rung by rung. Each one carries a measured share or save rate from a real post, not a guru's opinion.

Two: reach and sends are different sports. The two biggest multiples in the entire teardown pass — a five-second loop and a feature demo — had share rates under a tenth of a percent. The platforms pushed them; audiences didn't forward them. So this week they run as labelled experiments, judged on reach, while the anchors carry the sends target: one to two forwards per hundred views.

Three: the re-issue rule is now the operating system. When a post beats its median, it goes back up — identical asset, identical caption — inside a few days, and its sequel ships within 48 hours. Winners get re-drawn, not admired.

Four: the honest ceiling. A creator published his real dashboard: 2.34 million views, 2.6 percent shares, 4.5 percent saves on a genuine breakout. Every band I wrote this week is measured against that table, not against hope.

Week 2 preview: the first verdicts get read out loud, the full receipts post unlocks — my own dashboard, frame one — and whichever mechanic actually sent gets doubled down on. The timing experiment flips too: the evening slot moves to midday so the scoreboard can judge the window, not just the posts.

Your homework: before your next post, write down the send rate you expect and name the person your viewer would forward it to. Can't do both, the post isn't ready. Reply and tell me where it broke down — I read every reply. — Jude
